UAE Embassy UK attestation needs no trip to London and no queue outside the embassy. Your UK document first gets an apostille from the Foreign Office, then you apply with your digital ID on the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, and a VFS courier collects the original from your door or you hand it in at a VFS centre. It comes back electronically attested and ready for use in the UAE.

Which documents does the UAE Embassy in London accept?
The mission accepts documents issued in the United Kingdom, and it also handles Irish and Icelandic ones. That covers personal certificates such as birth, marriage and educational certificates, as well as powers of attorney and commercial documents. A document issued in any other country is attested by the UAE mission in the country of issue, even if its owner lives in Britain. For the wider picture on document types, see our page on personal certificate attestation.
Step one: the UK Foreign Office apostille
The Legalisation Office at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) checks the signature and seal against its records, then attaches the apostille. Each document has its own way in. Birth, marriage, death and company certificates go in as originals signed by the registrar, while degrees, powers of attorney and similar papers must first be certified by a UK solicitor or notary. The official GOV.UK legalisation page lists the document types, fees and timings. Ask for the paper apostille, because the embassy needs the physical original.
The UAE is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so an apostille alone is not enough to use a document in the country. That is why the embassy stage follows. Our guide to apostille attestation explains the difference.

UAE embassy UK attestation: how to apply on the ministry website
Before you log in, have four things ready: the original with its FCDO apostille, an active UAE Pass, a UK address where the courier can collect, and an email inbox you will check, since every update arrives there. The request then runs in four stages:

Courier collection or a VFS centre?
| Comparison | Courier collects from your address | Drop-off at a VFS centre |
|---|---|---|
| Handover | You enter the address and the courier comes to you. | You take the document to the approved centre. |
| After attestation | The original returns to the same address. | You collect it from the centre. |
| Best for | Anyone who wants to save time and travel. | Anyone who lives near a centre and prefers handing it in directly. |
What stops an application?
These mistakes come up again and again, and any one of them can send the document back to you:
| Case | What is required |
|---|---|
| Laminated document | It cannot be attested. |
| One apostille for several documents | Each document needs its own apostille. |
| Memorandum and articles of association | Each one is attested separately. |
| Power of attorney | It is signed before a UK solicitor or notary, then legalised by the FCDO. |
| Invoices and certificates of origin | They go through the eDAS 2.0 service on the ministry website, not this route. |
