Personal Documents We Attest
The birth certificate that proves your child’s parentage, the marriage certificate your family visa rests on, the degree that opens the door to a new job: these are documents you keep carefully, until the first official transaction tells you they won’t be accepted as they are. Government departments inside the UAE, and embassies and institutions outside it, will not rely on a personal document unless it carries the attestation of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), and sometimes the stamps of other authorities that come before or after it.
Our certificate attestation in Dubai covers every type of personal document issued by an official authority. The most frequently requested are:
- Birth certificates
- Marriage contracts and certificates
- Divorce certificates and divorce judgments
- Death certificates
- Police clearance (good conduct) certificates
- Educational certificates at every level: school, university and postgraduate, together with their transcripts
If your document isn’t on this list, don’t assume it can’t be attested. Just ask; what we handle is broader than any single list can show.
When Do You Need Certificate Attestation in Dubai?
It depends on where the document is going.
For use inside the UAE, an attested document is usually required to sponsor a spouse or children and issue their residence visas, register a newborn and enrol children in school, apply for jobs and certificate equivalency, and deal with inheritance and family matters before the courts.
For use outside the UAE, it is required to register a child born in the UAE with the authorities of the parents’ home country, to record a marriage that took place here in the home country, or to apply for residency, study or work in another country.
In both cases, certificate attestation in Dubai does the same job: an official confirmation from a sovereign authority that the document is genuine, and that the stamps and signatures on it really were issued by the competent authority.
Certificate Attestation in Dubai by Document Type
Every personal document is requested for a purpose, and every purpose comes with an authority that expects a particular form of attestation. These are the documents we handle most often, and where they are usually required:
Birth certificate
An attested birth certificate is needed to issue a newborn’s residence visa and passport, to register the child with the parents’ home embassy, and later to enrol them in school. Recent birth certificates can often be digitally attested at the time they are issued; older ones we attest on paper or electronically, depending on their format.
Marriage certificate
An attested marriage certificate is the basis for sponsoring a spouse and issuing their residence visa. It is also needed to register children, open joint bank accounts and record the marriage in the home country. If the certificate was issued electronically by Dubai Courts, certificate attestation in Dubai for it doesn’t require you to hand over any paper at all.
Divorce certificates and judgments
An attested divorce document is needed to prove marital status before a new marriage, in custody and maintenance matters, and to update civil records in the home country.
Death certificate
Essential for inheritance, transfer of ownership and closing bank accounts, and for procedures handled at the deceased’s home embassy. We treat these transactions with the care they deserve, and with speed at the same time.
Police clearance certificate
Employers and immigration authorities in many countries require it, usually attested by UAE MOFA and then by the destination country’s embassy, so we handle both stages together.
Educational certificates
Needed for university admission, employment and certificate equivalency, inside and outside the UAE. Our certificate attestation in Dubai for educational documents includes the accompanying transcripts, taking into account any prior attestation by the education authority that some countries require.
Route 1: Documents Issued in the UAE
If your document was issued by a UAE authority, such as Dubai Courts, the Ministry of Health and Prevention, or any other official body in any emirate, certificate attestation in Dubai usually comes down to a single step: the UAE MOFA stamp. How that step is carried out depends on the kind of document you have.
Electronically certified documents
Most official bodies in the UAE now issue their documents with electronic certification, and in that case you don’t need to hand us any paper at all. Take a marriage certificate issued by Dubai Courts: simply send us the PDF exactly as it was issued, carrying the court’s electronic stamp. We submit it for UAE MOFA attestation and send it back to you attested. No visit, no waiting in line, and the whole transaction is completed within one working day.
Paper documents without electronic certification
Some documents, especially older ones, don’t carry electronic certification. In that case we send a courier to any address you choose inside the UAE to collect the document, and it comes back to you attested and ready to use.
Is the MOFA stamp enough to use the document abroad?
Not always. Many countries require that, after UAE MOFA attestation, the document also be attested by their own embassy or consulate in the UAE before their authorities will accept it. These requirements vary from country to country, so it’s worth checking before you start. You’ll find the details of that step on our Embassy Attestation page, and we can handle it for you as part of the same transaction.
Document issued in the UAE? Send us the PDF on WhatsApp, and it could be back with you attested by the next working day.
Route 2: Documents Issued Outside the UAE

Home-Country MOFA Attestation
A prerequisite: the UAE embassy won't accept a document not first attested by the foreign ministry of the country that issued it.

Collection of the Original
After coordinating with the UAE embassy there, our courier collects the original from the address you specify in that country.

UAE Embassy Attestation
The courier submits the document to the UAE Embassy in the country of issue and follows up on its attestation.

UAE MOFA Attestation
The final link, which gives the document full legal standing inside the UAE.

Delivery
The document is returned to the specified address, attested and ready to use in the UAE.
A Practical Example: A Marriage Certificate Issued in Egypt
Take a marriage certificate issued in Egypt and already attested by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We contact the UAE Embassy in Cairo, our courier collects the certificate from your address in Egypt and has it attested at the embassy, then its UAE MOFA attestation is completed and it is delivered to you ready to use.
This transaction takes up to 5 working days, depending on the country and the speed of the courier company there, since courier services differ in efficiency from one country to another.
A note on educational certificates: some countries require an educational certificate to be attested first by the competent education authority, such as the ministry of education or higher education, before it goes to that country’s foreign ministry. If you’re not sure whether this applies in your country, ask us before sending the certificate.

Common Mistakes That Delay Certificate Attestation in Dubai
Most of the delays clients face in certificate attestation in Dubai aren’t caused by the authorities. They come from a step that was missed before the process began. These are the ones we see most often:
Sending a foreign document before it has been attested by its own foreign ministry. By far the most common mistake. The embassy rejects and returns the document, and days are lost that could have been saved.
Sending a photo or screenshot instead of the original PDF. An electronically certified document draws its validity from the file exactly as the official authority issued it, with its electronic stamp. A scan or a screenshot of it doesn’t serve that purpose.
Laminating the document. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs states explicitly that documents must not be laminated, because lamination prevents the stamp from being applied. If your certificate is laminated, get in touch with us before sending it.
Overlooking translation. MOFA requires the document to be in Arabic or English, or accompanied by a certified legal translation. Many authorities in the UAE also ask for a certified Arabic translation of a foreign document even after it has been attested. We provide certified legal translation as part of the same transaction when needed.
Assuming the UAE MOFA stamp is enough for every destination. It is enough inside the UAE. Abroad, the destination country may also require attestation by its own embassy, as explained in Route 1.
You can also review MOFA’s general attestation conditions in the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs attestation guide.
Don’t risk a lost week. Send us a photo of your document on WhatsApp before you ship it, and we’ll tell you if anything is missing.
Certificate Attestation in Dubai: Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to come to the office?
No. Electronically certified documents are sent to us as a PDF, and paper documents are collected by courier from the address you choose, inside the UAE or in the country of issue.
My document was issued in the UAE. Do I need to hand over the original?
If it’s electronically certified by the issuing authority, the original PDF as issued is enough. If not, our courier collects the original from your address and returns it to you attested.
How long does it take?
Certificate attestation in Dubai takes one working day for documents issued in the UAE, and up to 5 working days for documents issued abroad, depending on the country and the courier’s speed there.
Do you handle the UAE Embassy attestation in the country of issue?
Yes. We coordinate with the embassy and send a courier to collect the document from your address there and follow up on its attestation, then we complete the UAE MOFA attestation.
Can I attest a certificate issued in India without travelling there?
Yes. UAE MOFA attestation in India is done digitally through the UAE Embassy, and someone in India simply hands over the original on your behalf. See our guide to UAE MOFA attestation in India.
Can an apostille replace these attestations?
No. The UAE is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so a foreign document must go through the full attestation chain: the issuing country’s foreign ministry, then the UAE embassy there, then the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For a full explanation, read our guide: What is apostille attestation, and does the UAE accept it? A practical example of a foreign document from a Hague member country is an Australian certificate, and we’ve covered its full attestation route in our guide: Australia Certificate Attestation for the UAE.
My document is in a language other than Arabic or English. What should I do?
It needs to be accompanied by a certified legal translation, which we provide as part of the same transaction through our legal translation service. If it is a marriage certificate, rates by language are in our guide to the marriage certificate translation price.
Do you attest educational certificates as well?
Yes: school, university and postgraduate certificates, issued inside or outside the UAE. Some countries require prior attestation by the competent education authority, and we’ll make that clear to you before we begin.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the type of document and the country that issued it. Contact us and we’ll explain everything before we begin.
