How Egypt Embassy Attestation Works for a UAE-Issued Document
Egypt embassy attestation follows two successive stages, and neither can come before the other: MOFA attestation in Dubai (or any emirate) first, then attestation by the Egyptian mission in the UAE — the Consulate General in Dubai or the Embassy in Abu Dhabi. Some documents need a step at the issuing authority before that, such as notarising a power of attorney or declaration with a notary public in Dubai or another emirate. There is no shortcut stamp that replaces this route: neither Egypt nor the UAE is a party to the Hague Apostille Convention.
We have helped hundreds of clients attest their documents with the Egyptian mission quickly and with ease, and experience has taught us what delays these files most: a document that reaches the consulate before the earlier stage is complete, gets rejected, and costs days. So we start by checking your document, attest it at the UAE MOFA, submit it to the competent Egyptian mission, and return it to you ready — or ship it straight to Egypt if you prefer.
Types of Documents We Attest for Egypt
Documents presented to the Egyptian mission for Egypt embassy attestation fall into two main types, and the type decides the category the consulate applies: standard attestation for personal documents, and commercial attestation for commercial documents.
1. Personal Documents
- Civil status certificates: birth certificates, marriage and divorce contracts, and death certificates — including those needed to register an Egyptian child born in the UAE.
- Educational certificates: university and school certificates and transcripts submitted to an employer or university in Egypt, with Egyptian Cultural Office attestation when equivalency is required.
- Personal powers of attorney and declarations: POAs notarised before a UAE notary to manage or sell property, follow a lawsuit, or complete inheritance procedures in Egypt.
- Other certificates: experience certificates, good conduct certificates and medical reports.
2. Commercial Documents
- Company documents: trade licences, memoranda of association, and partners’ or board resolutions.
- Commercial contracts and POAs: commercial lease and sale contracts, share transfers, and powers of attorney of a commercial nature.
- Commercial invoices and similar sales documents.
- Sectors the consulate treats as commercial: anything related to pharmacies, shops, and transport or taxi vehicles.
If your document is not on either list, send us a photo and we will confirm its type and how it is attested.
Egypt Embassy Attestation Procedure
Like every document legalization services file, an Egypt embassy attestation goes through five consecutive stages, each built on the one before it — none can be skipped:

Notarisation or Issuance
Powers of attorney and declarations are notarised before a notary public, and educational certificates are verified by their issuing body when needed. E-attested government documents, such as a marriage contract issued by Dubai Courts, move straight to the next stage.

UAE MOFA Attestation
A requirement set by the Egyptian Consulate: the original document is not accepted unless it carries UAE MOFA attestation — which we complete within one working day for e-attested documents.

Translation if Needed
A document written in Arabic usually needs no translation; a document in another language may need a certified Arabic translation for the Egyptian authority, which we arrange within the same transaction.

Consular Attestation
The original is submitted with the consulate’s attestation request form to the Egyptian Consulate General in Dubai or the Embassy in Abu Dhabi, and classified as standard or commercial according to its subject.

In Egypt, if Required
Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs requires documents issued abroad to be attested by the Egyptian mission before its attestation offices in Egypt; some authorities request this final step after arrival.

Egyptian Embassy Attestation in Abu Dhabi or the Consulate in Dubai?
Egyptian embassy attestation in Abu Dhabi and attestation at the Consulate General in Dubai are essentially the same procedure; which one handles your file depends on the emirate. The Consulate General of Egypt in Dubai states that its jurisdiction covers Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, with its premises in the Consulate Area on Khalid Bin Al Waleed Street, Bur Dubai, while the Emirate of Abu Dhabi falls under the Egyptian Embassy in the capital.
The Dubai consulate accepts attestation requests through Emirates Post (EMX), with up to five documents per transaction, and states same-day completion, as published on its official attestation page. That channel assumes the document has already passed the earlier stages — send an incomplete document and you bear the trouble of getting it back. We confirm the competent mission for your file before submission, so you never need to visit either one in person to complete your Egypt embassy attestation.
Egyptian Embassy Attestation Fees in the UAE
The cost of the transaction is not a single fee but several separate ones: the UAE MOFA attestation fee, the Egyptian consulate fee — which differs between standard and commercial attestation and is charged per document — certified translation fees where needed, and finally our service fee for collection, follow-up and delivery. The consulate publishes its official fees on its official website, and they may change from time to time.
Because the cost of Egypt embassy attestation depends on the type, number and destination of your documents, we give you the full cost of the transaction before we start, so no later fee comes as a surprise.
Marriage Certificate Attestation at the Egyptian Embassy
The marriage contract tops the list of documents Egyptians living in the UAE take to the Egyptian mission, and its route depends on where the marriage was concluded. A marriage contracted in the UAE, such as one issued by Dubai Courts, is attested by the UAE MOFA and then goes through Egypt embassy attestation at the consulate, which makes it valid for Egyptian authorities — it is also a core document in a child’s birth registration file.
An Egyptian marriage contract needed in the UAE — for example to sponsor a wife or register children — takes the opposite route: Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then the UAE Embassy in Cairo, then the UAE MOFA, which we also handle as explained at the end of this page. Both cases are covered in our guide to marriage certificate attestation in the UAE.
Registering an Egyptian Child Born in the UAE
To issue an Egyptian birth certificate for a child born in the UAE, the consulate asks for the original UAE birth certificate attested by the UAE MOFA and by the Egyptian Consulate General, and the parents’ original marriage contract with its full attestation chain ending with the consulate’s attestation, together with both parents’ passports and Emirates IDs and a certified translation of either passport if it is not in Arabic. The consulate states that the certificate is collected two months after the application, according to its published requirements.
In practice, the marriage contract is the link that usually holds the file up; if it is not attested yet, it is the first thing to complete in your Egypt embassy attestation file, as described in the previous section.
A Consulate POA or a POA Notarised in the UAE?
The consulate itself issues powers of attorney and declarations for Egyptian citizens, on condition of personal attendance and presentation of a valid original passport or national ID card; no other identity documents are accepted, according to its powers of attorney page. A power of attorney executed before a UAE notary, by contrast, follows the full attestation route described above. The right choice depends on the principal and their circumstances:
| POA issued by the consulate | POA notarised in the UAE, then attested | |
|---|---|---|
| Who can sign it | An Egyptian citizen holding a valid passport or national ID card | An Egyptian or non-Egyptian principal |
| Where it is executed | Before the competent officer at the consulate | Before a notary public in the UAE |
| Attendance | In person, with no alternative | Before the notary; we then handle the attestation chain |
| Wording | Forms published by the consulate, such as bank, vehicle-management and special POAs | Drafted to suit the purpose and the receiving Egyptian authority |
We do not take the consulate’s place in issuing its own POAs. What we handle is notarising your power of attorney with a notary public in Dubai or any other emirate, followed by its Egypt embassy attestation — and we advise you on the better route for your case before you start.
Attesting a University Degree Is Not the Same as Equivalency in Egypt
Attesting your UAE university degree does not make it equivalent to an Egyptian degree. Equivalency is decided by the Equivalency Committee of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Universities, whose online system guidelines set a different route for degrees awarded outside Egypt: attestation by the higher-education ministry of the awarding country, then the Egyptian Cultural Office there, then the embassy of the university’s country in Cairo, and finally Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
We handle the Egyptian Cultural Office step in the UAE as part of your Egypt embassy attestation transaction, alongside UAE MOFA attestation, so you do not need to visit it yourself. If the degree is for an employer rather than equivalency, the requirements may differ — so we start with one question: which authority will receive the certificate? Then we explain exactly what your case needs.
Can an Apostille Replace Egypt Embassy Attestation?
No. The Hague Apostille Convention only works between two states that are both parties to it, and the Convention status table published by the Hague Conference on Private International Law lists neither Egypt nor the UAE among its parties. A UAE document destined for Egypt therefore cannot be apostilled; it follows consular attestation as described on this page. For the difference between the two procedures, see our guide to apostille attestation.

What We Need From You
To start your Egypt embassy attestation, we need:
- The original document to be attested
- A copy of the document holder’s passport and Emirates ID
- The purpose of the attestation and the Egyptian authority that will receive the document
- A certified Arabic translation if the document is not in Arabic and the Egyptian authority requires one — we arrange it through our legal translation service
- A collection address in the UAE, and a delivery address in Egypt if you want direct shipping
Attesting Egyptian Documents at the UAE Embassy in Cairo
If you need the reverse — a document issued in Egypt that you want to use in the UAE — the route is different: it is attested first by the attestation offices of Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then by the UAE Embassy in Cairo, then by the UAE MOFA. We handle this chain from here: we coordinate with the embassy, our courier collects the document from your address in Egypt, and the transaction usually takes up to five working days.
Degree certificates and marriage contracts are among the Egyptian documents we handle most in this direction. The cost of attesting certificates at the UAE Embassy in Cairo varies with the type and number of documents, so we confirm it in full before we begin. You will find the details of this route on our certificate attestation in Dubai page.
Egypt Embassy Attestation – Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the Egyptian Consulate General in Dubai?
In the Consulate Area, Khalid Bin Al Waleed Street, Bur Dubai. You do not need to go there to complete the transaction with us — we submit on your behalf.
Does my document need UAE MOFA attestation before Egypt embassy attestation?
Yes. The consulate requires the original document to carry MOFA attestation before it is submitted, and we complete both stages together.
Do I need an appointment at the Egyptian Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Consulate in Dubai?
With our service you do not need to book an appointment or visit the mission yourself; we submit on your behalf. Booking and reception channels differ between the consulate in Dubai and the embassy in Abu Dhabi and can change, so we keep track of them for you.
Is there an Egyptian embassy app for attestation requests?
The Consulate General in Dubai accepts attestation requests through an online request form and the Emirates Post (EMX) platform, which collects and delivers the documents, according to its official page. With us you need no platform or app at all: we collect your document from your door and handle submission and follow-up for your Egypt embassy attestation.
How much are the Egyptian embassy attestation fees in the UAE?
The consulate sets its fee per document, and it differs between standard and commercial attestation; the UAE MOFA fee and any translation fee are added to it. The consulate publishes its official fees on its website, and we give you the full cost of the transaction before we start.
How do I attest a marriage certificate at the Egyptian Embassy?
If the marriage was concluded in the UAE, the contract is attested by the UAE MOFA and then by the Egyptian Consulate in Dubai or the Embassy in Abu Dhabi. If it was concluded in Egypt and is needed in the UAE, it is attested by Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then the UAE Embassy in Cairo, then the UAE MOFA. We handle both directions.
How many documents can be submitted in one transaction?
Through Emirates Post, the consulate accepts up to five documents per Egypt embassy attestation transaction. If you have more, or documents of different categories, we arrange them into transactions that suit each category.
What is the difference between standard and commercial attestation at the consulate?
Commercial attestation covers documents related to companies, pharmacies, shops, leasing, commercial sales, shares, transport and taxi vehicles, and commercial invoices; everything else is treated as standard attestation. We confirm your document’s category before submitting it for Egypt embassy attestation.
Can an apostille replace Egypt embassy attestation?
No. Neither Egypt nor the UAE is a party to the Apostille Convention, so a UAE document goes through consular attestation as explained on this page.
Do I need to attend the consulate in person?
Not with our Egypt embassy attestation service — we collect the document, handle every stage and return it to you. Powers of attorney issued by the consulate itself for Egyptian citizens, however, require personal attendance.
Does my document need translation?
Arabic documents usually need no translation. Documents in other languages may need a certified Arabic translation — common for legal and commercial documents, and for a parent’s passport in a birth registration if it is not in Arabic. We provide legal translation within the same Egypt embassy attestation transaction.
Does attesting my university degree make it equivalent in Egypt?
No. Attestation is a procedure; equivalency is an academic decision issued by the Equivalency Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities, with its own document route explained on this page. We handle the Egyptian Cultural Office step of that route for you.
Do you ship the attested document directly to Egypt?
Yes. If its destination is Egypt, we ship it to the address you specify there on your behalf.
Are you part of the consulate? Do you offer passport or visa services?
No. We are a private attestation services office that deals with official authorities on the client’s behalf; decisions remain with those authorities alone. Our scope is document attestation — passports and visas follow their own procedures and are outside our services.
