Attestation for documents going to and coming from France
France Certificate Attestation in Dubai: Documents for France and for the UAE
France certificate attestation makes a document issued in one country valid in the other. A UAE document going to France is attested first by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then legalised by the French consulate, by appointment and with a French translation where needed. A French document coming to the UAE follows the opposite chain. Insta Attestation Services coordinates both routes of France attestation, with pickup and delivery anywhere in the UAE.
Electronically attested UAE documents receive UAE MOFA attestation within one working day.
We arrange the appointment and prepare your file to the French consulate’s requirements, so it is not returned for missing papers.
We coordinate a legal translation into French when your document is in Arabic or English.
We collect your documents and deliver them anywhere in the UAE, and ship the attested document to France on request.
What Is France Certificate Attestation?
France certificate attestation is the chain of official stamps that lets a document issued in the UAE be accepted in France, or a document issued in France be accepted in the UAE. For documents going to France, the final step is legalisation (légalisation) by the French mission in the UAE: the Consulate General of France in Dubai, which serves Dubai and the Northern Emirates, or the embassy in Abu Dhabi. It confirms the signature, the capacity of the official and the seal on the document; it does not review the content.
The UAE is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so a UAE document cannot carry an apostille. It follows the full chain of France certificate attestation instead: UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs first, then the French consulate before the document is used in France. To understand the difference between the two systems, read our guide to apostille attestation.

When Do You Need France certificate attestation?
Many procedures in France ask for a UAE document that has passed through the French consulate, and many UAE procedures ask for a French document that has been attested. The most common cases for France attestation are:

Residence and Visas
Civil and educational documents submitted in support of residence, family reunification or visa applications.

Marriage and Civil Status
Using a marriage contract or a birth or death certificate in civil-status procedures.

Study and Universities
Certificates and transcripts for admission or for recognition of a qualification.

Business and Companies
Company documents and contracts for business dealings between the UAE and France.

Powers of Attorney and Property
Powers of attorney and notarised documents for inheritance, sale or purchase.
France certificate attestation: Step by Step
We follow the order in which the authorities require each step, so nothing is delayed or repeated. This is the route for France certificate attestation of a UAE document going to France:

Document Review
We check the document and where it will be used in France, and identify the consulate’s requirements.

UAE MOFA Attestation
We have the document attested by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the step that comes before the consulate. It takes one working day for electronic documents.

French Translation
We arrange a legal translation into French if the document is not already in French, as the consulate requires.

Appointment and Submission
Appointments are booked in advance, with a copy of the document sent for checking, and the original is presented at the appointment.

Collection and Delivery
We collect the attested document and deliver it to you anywhere in the UAE, or ship it to France on request.
What Does the French Consulate Check?
The consulate checks the signature, the capacity of the signatory and the seal; it does not review the content of the document. The document must therefore be complete and must already carry UAE MOFA attestation, otherwise the consulate will not accept it. The French embassy and consulate publish their conditions on their official page.
In the light of those published conditions, these are the reasons a France certificate attestation file is most often delayed:
- Submitting without UAE MOFA attestation: the consulate legalises only a document already attested by the local authority.
- Missing French translation: a document in Arabic or English is not accepted unless it comes with a French translation by an authorised translator.
- Arriving without an appointment: the consulate receives no one without one.
- Relying on an apostille: a UAE document carries none, and needs the full consular route.
- Signing a private deed in advance: a signature is legalised in the presence of the signatory, so the signing should wait for the appointment.
Avoiding these saves a wasted appointment and valuable time, which is why we review your file before submission.
Does the Consulate Accept a Document in Arabic or English?
The consulate requires the document to be written in French, or to be accompanied by a French translation prepared by a translator authorised to work with the French authorities. If your document is in Arabic or English we arrange the translation before submission; see our legal translation in Dubai service.

- A copy of the passport and the Emirates ID of the document holder.
- The French authority the document will be submitted to, and the purpose of use.

France certificate attestation From France to the UAE: The Opposite Direction
If your document was issued in France and is needed in the UAE, the route is reversed. Since 1 September 2025 the regional councils of notaries in France handle legalisation requests for French documents going abroad. The document is then presented to the UAE Embassy in Paris and finally to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Once your document has its French legalisation, we coordinate its attestation at the UAE Embassy, take care of the shipping and complete the UAE MOFA attestation.
Alongside France certificate attestation we offer a complete range of services: MOFA attestation in Dubai, notary public in Dubai, legal translation in Dubai, certificate attestation in Dubai and document legalization services.
Frequently Asked Questions About France certificate attestation
Can I visit the French consulate without an appointment?
No. Legalisation requests at the consulate are handled by appointment only, and the consulate receives no one without one. We arrange the appointment and prepare the file for you.
Which language must the document be in?
It must be written in French or accompanied by a French translation prepared by a translator authorised to work with the French authorities.
Does UAE MOFA attest the document before the consulate?
Yes. For France certificate attestation, France requires the document to be attested by the local authority first and then legalised at the consulate. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs completes electronic documents within one working day.
Does the consulate review the content of my document?
No. It verifies the signature, the capacity of the signatory and the seal only, and does not endorse the content.
How long does France certificate attestation take?
The UAE stage takes one working day for electronic documents. The consulate’s time depends on the earliest appointment it offers, and we tell you what it is when we book.
Do I have to attend in person for France certificate attestation?
Legalising a signature on a private deed requires the signatory to attend in person. For other documents we confirm the attendance requirement before booking, according to the document type.
Does France accept an apostille on a UAE document?
A UAE document cannot carry an apostille because the UAE is not a party to the Hague Convention, so it follows the consular route.
Is the translation attested in France certificate attestation as well?
Attestation of the translation may be required depending on the document type and the French authority. We check this in advance, before submission.
What is the difference between the French consulate in Dubai and the embassy in Abu Dhabi?
The Consulate General of France serves Dubai and the Northern Emirates, while the embassy is in Abu Dhabi. We tell you which applies when we review your document.
How do I attest a French document for use in the UAE?
It is legalised in France first, then at the UAE Embassy in Paris, then at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We coordinate the last two steps.
Can the attested document be shipped to France?
Yes, we ship it to France on request.
Do you handle company documents for France attestation?
Yes. We attest trade licences, memoranda of association, minutes and powers of attorney for companies and individuals.
