Saudi Embassy Abu Dhabi: Address, Working Hours and Document Attestation

Saudi Embassy Abu Dhabi is the Kingdom’s diplomatic mission to the UAE, and it stands in the capital’s Embassies Area. It receives visitors from Monday to Thursday, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., and its main telephone line is +971 2 444 5700. It is the Saudi authority that attests documents issued in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and it accepts attestation requests only through an approved office, once the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs has attested the document.

Documents issued in Dubai or the Northern Emirates belong to a different mission, which we explain further below.

Saudi Embassy Abu Dhabi Address and Location

The embassy stands in the Embassies Area, the diplomatic quarter where most of the capital’s foreign missions are gathered. The simplest way to find it is to open its pin on the map below, or to follow the link on the embassy’s official website.

One point is worth knowing before you set out: a personal visit does not help with attestation, because the embassy does not receive documents from individuals. If attestation is your purpose, you can save the journey altogether with a single phone call.

Saudi Embassy in Abu Dhabi or Saudi Consulate in Dubai?

Saudi Arabia keeps two missions in the UAE: the embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Saudi Consulate in Dubai. What decides which of them attests your document is the emirate that issued it, not the emirate where you live.

Where the document was issued Competent mission Our turnaround
Emirate of Abu Dhabi, including Al Ain and Al Dhafra Saudi Embassy in Abu Dhabi Three working days
Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah Saudi Consulate General in Dubai One working day

If your document was issued in Dubai or one of the Northern Emirates, the full procedure is set out on our page for Saudi embassy attestation in Dubai. If your file mixes documents from more than one emirate, our guide to the Saudi embassy UAE missions explains how it is split between them.

What Does the Saudi Embassy in Abu Dhabi Offer?

  • Saudi citizens’ affairs for Saudis living in the UAE, handled by a dedicated section.
  • Digital services, since the embassy refers visitors to the Absher and Najiz platforms for many transactions that can be completed online.
  • Visas, which are requested through the unified national visa platform.
  • Attestation of UAE documents issued in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and intended for use in the Kingdom, through the consular section.

University degrees required for work or study in Saudi Arabia may call for a separate step at the Saudi Cultural Bureau, which is a different body from the embassy.

How to Attest a Document at the Saudi Embassy in Abu Dhabi

This section concerns UAE documents that will be used in Saudi Arabia, such as academic certificates, marriage contracts, powers of attorney and commercial documents. A document passes through three consecutive stops:

  1. Attestation by the issuing body: the notary public for powers of attorney, or the educational institution for certificates, depending on the document.
  2. Attestation by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs: a condition without which the embassy will not accept the document. You will find the details on our page for UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs attestation.
  3. Attestation by the Saudi embassy: submitted exclusively through an approved office, and completed with us within three working days.

This route relies on consular legalization rather than an apostille, and our guide to apostille attestation explains the difference between the two paths.

What we need from you: the original document, a copy of the applicant’s passport or Emirates ID, and the name of the Saudi entity that will receive it. The document does not need to be translated, and the applicant does not need to be present. To see how the attestation fee is paid online, read our guide to Saudi embassy fees UAE.

The most common reasons for rejection:

  • A document issued outside the UAE, since the embassy attests only UAE documents.
  • A document issued in Dubai or one of the Northern Emirates, which falls under the consulate in Dubai.
  • A missing copy of the applicant’s passport or Emirates ID.
  • A document submitted without UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs attestation.

Some entities inside the Kingdom also ask for a final attestation from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, so ask the receiving entity about it before you begin.
