Attestation for documents going to and coming from France

France Certificate Attestation in Dubai: Documents for France and for the UAE

France certificate attestation makes a document issued in one country valid in the other. A UAE document going to France is attested first by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then legalised by the French consulate, by appointment and with a French translation where needed. A French document coming to the UAE follows the opposite chain. Insta Attestation Services coordinates both routes of France attestation, with pickup and delivery anywhere in the UAE.

What Is France Certificate Attestation?

France certificate attestation is the chain of official stamps that lets a document issued in the UAE be accepted in France, or a document issued in France be accepted in the UAE. For documents going to France, the final step is legalisation (légalisation) by the French mission in the UAE: the Consulate General of France in Dubai, which serves Dubai and the Northern Emirates, or the embassy in Abu Dhabi. It confirms the signature, the capacity of the official and the seal on the document; it does not review the content.

The UAE is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so a UAE document cannot carry an apostille. It follows the full chain of France certificate attestation instead: UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs first, then the French consulate before the document is used in France. To understand the difference between the two systems, read our guide to apostille attestation.

What Does the French Consulate Check?

The consulate checks the signature, the capacity of the signatory and the seal; it does not review the content of the document. The document must therefore be complete and must already carry UAE MOFA attestation, otherwise the consulate will not accept it. The French embassy and consulate publish their conditions on their official page.

In the light of those published conditions, these are the reasons a France certificate attestation file is most often delayed:

  • Submitting without UAE MOFA attestation: the consulate legalises only a document already attested by the local authority.
  • Missing French translation: a document in Arabic or English is not accepted unless it comes with a French translation by an authorised translator.
  • Arriving without an appointment: the consulate receives no one without one.
  • Relying on an apostille: a UAE document carries none, and needs the full consular route.
  • Signing a private deed in advance: a signature is legalised in the presence of the signatory, so the signing should wait for the appointment.

Avoiding these saves a wasted appointment and valuable time, which is why we review your file before submission.

Does the Consulate Accept a Document in Arabic or English?

The consulate requires the document to be written in French, or to be accompanied by a French translation prepared by a translator authorised to work with the French authorities. If your document is in Arabic or English we arrange the translation before submission; see our legal translation in Dubai service.

What We Need From You

To start your France certificate attestation we need:

  • The original document to be attested, or a photo of it for a first review.
  • A copy of the passport and the Emirates ID of the document holder.
  • The French authority the document will be submitted to, and the purpose of use.
  • The language of the document, so we can tell whether a French translation is needed.
  • The signatory’s attendance at the appointment, if the document is a private deed whose signature is legalised.

France certificate attestation From France to the UAE: The Opposite Direction

If your document was issued in France and is needed in the UAE, the route is reversed. Since 1 September 2025 the regional councils of notaries in France handle legalisation requests for French documents going abroad. The document is then presented to the UAE Embassy in Paris and finally to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Once your document has its French legalisation, we coordinate its attestation at the UAE Embassy, take care of the shipping and complete the UAE MOFA attestation.

Alongside France certificate attestation we offer a complete range of services: MOFA attestation in Dubai, notary public in Dubai, legal translation in Dubai, certificate attestation in Dubai and document legalization services.
